Suffolk People First: April 2025
Suffolk People First is a county-wide self-advocacy event hosted by Suffolk based advocacy organisation, Ace Anglia.
This event is for people with a learning disability, autistic people, their families and providers.
The quarterly events bring together self-advocates, family carers, support workers and health & social care professionals from across Suffolk. We have guest speakers from local, regional and national organisations.
The events aim to:
- Work in co-production with delegates on implementing the Suffolk Learning Disability Strategy 2023/24
- Bring people together
- Provide opportunities for people to talk directly to the Learning Disability Partnership Board
- Provide opportunities for people to share good news or stories
- Host presentations about policy, organisations, or projects.
Agenda:
What Does Community Mean to You?
- We’ll watch a video and then do a tabletop exercise about community and how to include everyone. Health and Wellbeing in the Community
- We will talk to community organisations and groups about how they help people in their community.
Who Do You Talk To?
- Claire Tolliday, Head of Financial Inclusion and Advice Service at Suffolk County Council, will lead a conversation about who to contact for support and advice. We will hear Joel’s presentation on the Motability scheme and your rights.
Looking Ahead
- Your thoughts and views on how we can continue to build welcoming, supportive communities for people with learning disabilities in the future.
