How should DWP involve disabled people in changing how it works?

The Social Security Advisory Committee asking people and organisations to send them examples relating to how DWP listens to feedback from disabled people or involves disabled people, and any ways in which this might be improved.

It is for their latest project: DWP engagement of disabled people in policies and practices that affect them.

We know that the Department for Work and Pensions regularly consults disabled people, or organisations representing them in developing policies and implementing services affecting them.

However the extent, consistency and effectiveness of that engagement is not clear.

The Social Security Advisory Committee’s research aims to build a better understanding of this.

The majority of changes to disability benefits over the past decade have primarily affected those of working age.

The Social Security Advisory Committee’s research will therefore focus on this group.

See the Easy Read guide for more information about how to take part.

The deadline for submissions is 23 March 2020
