Physical and mental wellness peer educator programme

During 2023 Ace Anglia employed two people with a learning disability, in a paid role, to co-produce and deliver workshops to educate and create conversation on the importance of physical activity and its positive effects on mental health  and wellbeing amongst people with a learning disability and their families/support workers. As well as workshops we created information booklets and a journal which could be filled in over the course of a month to record activity and hopefully positive changes in mental health and wellbeing.

This project was commissioned and supported by Suffolk County Council’s Public Mental Health Programme, which aims to positively impact on inactivity levels across Suffolk, and in doing so, protect against poor mental health.

*Please note the project has now finished so you do not need to send the booklets back to us.

Throughout the project, we signposted physical activities around Suffolk to help people stay physically active.

During the project, we interviewed self-advocates to talk about their experiences with physical activities and how it positively impacts them.
